UPDATE - 05/26/2025
Against all the evil that Hell or definitive statements like "I hope this is the last update" can conjure, all the wickedness that mankind can produce, we will send unto them...another update to Monster Sounds EX.
Listen, this started with a very minor fix to the Hell Knight and Baron of Hell's blood color after it was pointed out that ~dark green~ fit better with the sprites. Something about putting out tiny updates after saying "hey I would like to move onto a different project" felt a little lackluster, so here we are!
Introducing: Sound Modes! Previously, Monster Sounds EX only had a toggle for high-resolution sound effects, but now this toggle has expanded to include PlayStation Doom/Doom 64 sounds! Now you too can listen to the iconic groaning and pitch-shifted sound effects of the console Doom games, but that's not all! This also includes an additional option that adds my sound effects made for Doom 64: Unseen Evil (as pictured above)! I have made room for some additional things if the idea ever hits me, and there's probably a lot I could do, so if I ever get the itch or urge to add something else, it should be fairly easy. As always, we'll see where it goes!

- [2.0 PK3] Added sound modes: PSX/N64 (Original) and PSX/N64 + Unseen Evil. All monster sounds from PlayStation Doom and Doom 64 are now present. The + Unseen Evil option adjusts the sounds for the Shotgunner and Chaingunner by pitching them down in-engine and changes the sound sets for the Archvile, Cyberdemon, and Spider Mastermind to their Unseen Evil versions.
- [2.0 PK3] New sounds created for the PSX/N64 Archvile.
- [2.0 PK3] Updated the Monster Sounds EX menu to clean up the menu and add in the new Sound Mode option. Miscellaneous options are now in their own submenu.
- [2.0 PK3] Renamed several CVars for organization/possible future changes
- [2.0 PK3] Changed Hell Knight and Baron blood colors from green to dark green
- [2.0 PK3] Fixed issue where the Zombieman did not play the correct attack sound when the HD option was selected
- [2.0 PK3] Fixed issue where Mancubus fireballs did not play correct attack sounds when the HD option was selected
- [2.0 PK3 - 2.1a] Fixed issues where PSX/N64 + Unseen Evil mode didn't play the correct sounds
- [2.0 PK3 - 2.1b] Fixed more issues where PSX/N64 + Unseen Evil mode didn't play the correct sounds
