UPDATE - 05/22/2025


I found a couple of issues that needed to be addressed, so here we are again! I overhauled the monster replacement code to account for some instances where MSEX monsters didn't activate death triggers on maps with UMAPINFO. The new code now checks what monster is being replaced and doesn't replace a monster if it is already being replaced by something else. My testing for this has been pretty sparse, and I'm honestly not the best codemaster™, so there are bound to be some issues that crop up! Please let me know if you run into anything. Download it from the usual places (i.e., the first post of the thread)!

I also wanted to draw some attention to the Doom 2 Minor Sound Fixing Project. It's a great endeavor and pairs well with Monster Sounds EX, so check it out!

CHANGELOG

  • [2.0 PK3] Changed how the replacement code works to consider UMAPINFO death triggers and other instances where monster deaths should trigger something. This was specifically tested with Doom 2: Penitence, but I encourage you all to test it with your favorite mapsets that utilize UMAPINFO!
  • [2.0 PK3] Fixed an issue where the Cyberdemon would occasionally make Spider Mastermind walking noises after entering its pain state.
  • [2.0 PK3] Renamed the text file to remove the word "CREDITS" because I use DoomRunner and it has a really nifty feature where you double-click a file and it shows you the accompanying text file. NEAT.
  • [MBF21 (Edited Monsters)] Fixed a typo causing the Burstgunner to use the Shotgunner's death sounds.
